The tree is up, the gifts are wrapped (well they're bought and in the closet so that's close) and I've set my holiday table. This year I wanted to do something a bit fun and different for my holiday table so I decided to try these hoop centerpieces. Scroll down for more details on this modern Christmas table with DIY hoop centerpiece.
These hoop centerpieces were easy to make and fairly inexpensive. I picked up a few hoops from the craft store, some plaster of Paris, some mini paper cups and gold spray paint. I simply cut two slits on either side of the paper cup (note if I were to do this again I probably would have used a small box or something a bit bigger than the mini cups), inserted the hoop and filled the cup with plaster of Paris. I let this set overnight and then spray painted the whole thing gold. Finally I decorated each hoop with some delicate greens and a velvet ribbon (you can see how I made these here).
I placed a mini Christmas tree on each plate as a party favour. Check out the DIY concrete Christmas tree tutorial on the blog for details on how you can make your own.

I want to try this but am still a bit unsure how you put them into the cup?
ReplyDeleteThanks! I used a few Dixie cups, cut the sides, poured in the plaster and inserted the hoop. I leaned the hoop against something while it dried.
