Christmas Mantel Decor Ideas: Faux Fireplace
The living room in our new home is missing a fireplace. We have one
in our rec room but it has a very large TV above it and doesn't have
enough room for stockings or decor. I was pretty bummed about not being
able to decorate a Christmas mantel this year so I picked up a mantel
surround on Kijiji and decided to get creative. Luckily as part of the
Modern Handmade Home series we partnered with Kitchen Stuff Plus to
decorate our kitchens and fireplace mantels. Here are my Christmas
Mantel Decor Ideas for Faux Fireplaces.
I created the inside of the fireplace with a cardboard project board from the dollar store and I stuck some self-adhesive faux octagon tiles to it. Then I coloured in the faux tiles with a permanent market to create a bistro tile effect. I used some candles from Kitchen Stuff Plus to serve as the fire inside.
For the Christmas mantel decor I used a cake plate and cake stand to display some super cute gnomes. One gnome for each person in my family.
Another cute idea I had was to use some Christmas kitchen towels to wrap the pots of my existing plants and trees. I think this is a great way to change the look of all your pots in your home from everyday to Christmas!
Finally, I placed some gold reindeer in front of the fireplace and tons of greens on the mantel. I love this monochromatic green on green Christmas look. It adds so much texture.

This is exactly the fireplace surround I'm looking for!! Any idea where I could find the same mantle and surround?! So modern yet traditional, I love it.
