One Room Challenge Fall 2018 - Week 4: Kitchen Backsplash
I cannot believe it's Week 4 of the Fall 2018 One Room Challenge already! I'm finding it harder and harder to share pics without giving too much away. This week we installed some amazing Laura Ashley ceramic tile for our kitchen backsplash and installed the Hudson Valley lighting.
If this is your first time here, let me share a bit of background on this project, we purchased this cute mid-century house to renovate. We're keeping our costs down wherever possible (as we want to appeal to the first time home buyer on resale). Last week I shared a DIY range hood cover tutorial for under $250, in week 2 I discussed my tips for designing and installing an Ikea Kitchen and in Week 1 I provided some unbelievable before pics along and shared my design plans.
This week we installed our Laura Ashley ceramic tile backsplash in Wicker Dove Grey. We picked up this tile from Eden Tile-it and I love it. I'm planning to save a few for our fireplace hearth.
If you've been following me on Instagram you know I've been on the hunt for some copper pots (cooking not gardening). I really want the kitchen to have a mix of metals and I feel like copper is making a huge comeback (did it it ever go away?) My mother-in-law lent me an amazing antique copper urn so I'm super excited to incorporate it into the room. I think it's a sign that my copper pots are right around the corner.
We also installed out lighting and I have to say I'm thrilled with the way they look. I was a bit worried my space was turning out too farmhouse but these light pull it right back. The dining room chandelier is ASIME from the Mitzi Collection, it gives the most amazing light considering we weren't able to put it on a dimmer switch. We selected similar pendants for the kitchen and at first we thought they were too big but the glass shade keeps them subtle.
Special thanks to my sponsors; Shaub and Company, Article, Hayneedle, Hudson Valley Lighting and Blanco Canada. I'd also like to thank Better Homes & Gardens for being the media partner for this event.
Follow me on Instagram if you're interested in the daily progress. Next week I'll be tackling my dining room wall - wallpaper or trim work? What's your opinion? Leave me a note in the comments below.
Also, be sure to check out the other featured designers in the One Room Challenge and as always a special thank you to Linda of Calling It Home for creating this event and asking me to be one of the twenty featured designers of the One Room Challenge Fall 2018 edition. It is an honor to be included with this talented group. Check them out below:
