DIY Play Kitchen: An Update
I always loved the idea of a play kitchen for my kids but I wanted one that wasn't plastic. I ended up making this DIY Play kitchen for my son a few years back. You can check out that post here. I loved the way it turned out but it was in need of a toy kitchen remodel.
I originally made this DIY Play Kitchen for my first son when he was two. Three birthdays and one little brother later and it needed some TLC. My boys never really "played" with it though, it was more of a launch pad for more exciting toys. In any case, the adhesive tile was rolling up, the stove door had fallen off and the range hood was hanging by a thread. Let's just say it had seen some better days.
I ripped off all the self-adhesive tile and took off the shelves and range hood. I stenciled the backsplash with a stencil I picked up from the dollarstore and spraypainted the range hood mat black.
Finally, I covered the shelves with faux wood shelf liner - exactly the same as the marble one I used on the sink counter-top.
Then I found these adorable mini-cutting boards at the dollarstore. I think they really make the look.

In the end, they still don't really play with this DIY play kitchen - I had to bribe them to get this picture.

Oh my gosh Andrea!!!!!! This is the best kid’s kitchen I have ever seen. This needs to be made and sold. If I had little kids this would be the kitchen I would want.
