Here's how to create a big papier mache number one for a first birthday party - It can be used as a photo prop, a party prop or both. The best part is that it can be created using stuff you probably already have in your house.

 Here are the things you'll need. Note, you'll also need paint.
 Tape the boxes together as per below.
 Fill up a bowl with 1 cup water, 1 cup flour and some white glue (PS - don't use whole wheat flour)
Cut your newspaper into strips, dip each strip into the paste and place it on the boxes. Continue this step until the entire number is covered.
Let it dry over night, paint and you're done : )
