My family and I went up to Deerhurst Resort for the long weekend. It was nice to get away in a cottage-like setting. I was worried the resort would be too "adult" for my young kids (given the golf course and that it was the location of the G8 summit). Surprising it was perfectly suited for kids (just enough for them to do without interfering with the non-kid guests).
Check-in was fast and easy. The room was nice, it was clean and on par with similar hotels - we were able to get a two bedroom suite which was perfect for our fam.
We had a lovely surprise from a friend waiting for us in the fridge - the kids loved the milk and cookies.
Deerhurst recently put in a kids zone - which includes a two story jungle gym and arcade.
An obvious hit with our kids (and perfect activity for those rainy days). If you look closely you can see my husband crawling in there too.
The resort also boasts tons of nature trails which was a great way for the kids to burn off some energy and spend some time as a family.
With our own private deck looking out onto the golf course and lake - it felt a lot like being at a cottage without the hassle. The perfect mini-vacay. I would recommend Deerhurst to other families.

Oh my goodness, Andrea, what a lovely place! A private deck, too? I like the sound of that! Would you recommend Deerhurst for non-families, too?
ReplyDeleteFor sure! The resort is probably better for non-families. The golf course looked amazing but we were unable to give it a go. Huntsville is also a really cute little town.
