DIY Paper Flowers from Paint Chips
These DIY paper flowers are the perfect paint chip craft idea to make during your next mother-daughter night. They're easy to make so you can chat with your girl, you know... get the scoop, find out who's dating who, find what "on fleek" means and so on. Basically a win-win, quality mother-daughter time plus DIY wall art on fleek ; )
With over-sized paper flowers being a huge trend right now, I knew I wanted to incorporate them into my Home Depot Teen girl bathroom mood board (see post from a few days ago). Believe it or not I made these paper flowers with Home Depot paint chips. So great because you can literally use your wall colour paint chip or pick from the complimentary colours on display (the hard work is already done). So, here's how to make paper flowers from paint chips.
You don't need a lot of paint chips. I used 5 per flower. Behr paint has large paint chips that are perfect for this DIY paper flower project (not to mention the bigger paint chip makes choosing a colour for your wall much easier). The other things you'll need to make a paint chip paper flowers is a glue gun, a wooden spoon, thick marker, scissors, black felt pads and 3M Command Picture Hanging Strips.
The paint colour I choose for the Teen Girl Bathroom Moodboard was My Sweetheart by Behr so I selected complimentary paint chip colours.
I used a wooden spoon to trace out the petals. Feel free to make the top even (that's what I did).
Cut the petal down down the middle half way.
Glue one side on top of the other.
Use the large marker to slightly curl the end of the petal.
Work it a little to get a nice petal-like shape. Don't worry about big creases.
Next glue the petals together. I used five and glued one on top of the next in a circle.
Don't worry if you can see the text on the paint chip petal this will get covered later.
Take a darker colour paint chip and cut a circle.
Cut fringe around the circle.
Give the fringe a smoosh.
Hot glue the fringe to the inside of the paper flower.
Next use the black felt pads for the center of the paper flower.
Funny enough Behr paint has these great green leaf shaped paint chips. I just cut off the text.
Next use the 3M Command Picture hanging srtrips to adhere each flower individually to the wall.
That's it! That's how to make paper flowers from paint chips.
Paper flowers are a great paint chip craft idea.
Don't forget to check out how these fit into my Teen Girl Bathroom Mood Board
